Javale McGee had a original staging in the contest: first a dunk with 2 balls and 2 baskets and later a dunk with 3 balls. Serge Ibaka made the classic free throw dunk and another grabbing a teddy bear with his mouth. DeMar DeRozan made a good performance, with a between-the-legs alleyoop and a reverse windmill.

Young power influx to the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Last year champion Nate Robinson won't defend his title, and four players (mostly tall players) who are debuting in the contest will fight to became the 20th winner of the Slam Dunk Contest.

Blake Griffin is the fan favorite. Coming back from a season-ending injury, the powerful dunks of the Los Angeles Clippers rookie are always between the NBA top plays. Serge Ibaka is familiar with this kind of event, winning the Spanish dunk contest before jumping to the NBA. DeMar DeRozan is the only guard between the participants and replaces Brandon Jennings who is currently sidelined with a foot injury. JaVale Mcgee's height is a rareness in the Slam Dunk Contest, and could became the first 7 footer to win it.
