NBA ALL-STAR GAMES HISTORY

37 cities, 407 players, 59 coaches during 67 years. An idea from publicist Haskell Cohen supported by Celtics founder Walter Brown, is still alive nowadays, and only the lockout in 1999 could interrupt it.

In all these years, East dominates West 37-28. West only could tie the win/loss balance in the 70's (5-5), and right now is winning 11-6 in the new century. Check the full results for more details.

The official All-Star festivities were narrowed to the NBA All-Star Game until the 80's. In 1984 the NBA organized his first Slam Dunk Contest, and the Three-Point Shootout Contest started in 1986. The Legends Games also came back in this decade (after the brief appearances in 1957 and 1964)

The 90's launched the Rookies Game, to be renamed as the Rookie Challenge and later as the Rising Stars Challenge. And with the new century, some "minor" contests came out to complete the Saturday program.
